Annotation: Broadside shows portrait of military leader Macario Romero on horseback and Indians wearing feathered headdresses in the background. The text tells of the murder of Romero by his girlfriend’s father and speaks about his valor. Romero fought against the government of President Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada and served in the state of Morelos until he was killed in 1878 or 1879. The song “Corrido del zenzontle,” and an image of a rose appear on the verso. Published in Mexico City by Antonio Vanegas Arroyo between 1890 and 1909.
